Now carefully pull the intake.

DON'T let the paper move ,  if it does...Start over.

This tool is your friend.... You will use it  to cut the paper out the intake ports on the heads.

The sharper the bettter.

(BTW...Keep any and all drill bits out of your fingers.)

Clean off any oil fom the heads & intake surface.

Lightly spray some heavy duty paper with gasket adhesive and postiion
the paper on the heads.

Then place the intake on the heads, install a couple intake manifold bolts to position it,
and scribe the location of the  manifold onto the paper.
Mark the drivers side and passenger side.

You need to be accurate here, and as close to the edge of the intake as you can get.

After you've pull the intake, carefully rub the paper with your dirty  little hands to outline the intake ports on the heads.

Now  using that cute little X-Acto knife, remove the paper from the intake ports on the heads using the sides of the intake ports as a guide.
If you used enough gasket adhesive, the paper won't move.

CArefully pull the paper template off the heads.

Here's the template, showing the exact location of the intake ports on the heads,
and the out line of the intake manifold.

Use sometjing to color the outermost edges of the ports on the intake manifold.
I used a blue marks-a-lot,. You need something to scribe into....

Now, spary more gasket adhesive on the intake side of the paper template, and carefully align it on the intake manifold so the outline on the paper exactly lines up with the edges of the manifold.
See the  lines I traced right at the edge of the maniflod ?

Once the paper template is aligned, and you're pretty sure it  won't move, turn it over and
see why you bothered to do this...Mine was an 1/8" off.

Before removing the template from the intake, trace around the edges with the X-Acto knife.
Remove the template form the intake manifold, and be amazed how far off your intake was.

If you open up the Intake to match these lines, you good to go.

I'll stay a little away from the scribed lines so I don't create a lip.

Done!
